Dr. John Waters, D.D.S.
After graduating from the University of Illinois Dental School in 1985, I proudly served in the United States Navy, and have been practicing general dentistry here in Sandwich since 1993. But that doesn't mean I'm done learning. I participate extensively in continuing education through The Dawson Center, The Pankey Institute, and Academy of General Dentistry where I was awarded Fellowship in 2007. I'm a member of the American Dental Association and have repeatedly served as a voting delegate to the Illinois State Dental Society. I'm also a past president of the Fox River Valley Dental Society and currently serve on its Executive Board.

One of the hallmarks of our practice is what we call Compassionate Dentistry. It goes beyond expert, high-level dental care. It's a way of practicing dentistry that puts our patients' comfort first. Gentle, informative dentistry that has become our standard of care.

I am a firm believer in giving back to the community as exemplified by my participation in the Dentist with a Heart program that provides free dental services to local citizens in need. I also volunteer time to educate local school children during Children's' Dental Health Month. Traveling with our church mission in June 2008 to provide dental services to the people of Honduras is a rewarding opportunity for me to extend my service to our fellow citizens of the world.

When I'm not practicing dentistry I enjoy spending time with my wife, Lisa and our children, Jennifer and Daniel, as well as traveling, snow skiing and golfing.

Dr. Adam Winckler, D.D.S.
After being born in Aurora and raised in Hinckley, I traveled farther afield to pursue my passion of dentistry. First, to Augustana College in Rock Island, and then to the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry where I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I completed my hospital residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago where I acquired extended training in special patient care, emergency dentistry, and each of the dental specialties. During residency training I completed rotations in emergency medicine, anesthesia, oral medicine, and oral surgery.

I have now relocated back to this area with my wife, Heide, where we look forward to raising a family and being active members of the local community for years to come. This is one reason why I have chosen to practice general dentistry. It allows me the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with patients and their families. I have found my home, not only in this community, but also at The Waters Dental Group where I am proud to lend my expertise to one of the areas most exceptional practices. In dental school, my head instructor would give me the extremely nervous and anxious patients because of my ability to make them feel at ease. So, I believe I am perfectly suited to this practice which is renown for its gentle and compassionate technique.

Jennifer, Registered Dental Hygienist
Since my graduation from Parkland College in 1999 I have been the hygienist with Dr. Waters. Prior to my schooling I was a dental receptionist and chairside assistant. I enjoy working and living in Sandwich. I find it especially rewarding when I see patients in the community and they meet my husband and daughter. I love the connections I make here with my co-workers and the patients.

Sheila, Clinical / Lab Assistant
Of my 32 years in dentistry, 27 of them have been with this practice. I graduated from the dental assistant program at Elgin Community College, and through continuing education received certification in coronal polishing and sealants. I enjoy many aspects of dentistry. My husband and two children would be the first to tell you that I enjoy coming to work. I'm happy to know that the patients we treat at The Waters Dental Group are receiving the best possible care.

Christine, Clinical Assistant.
I've been practicing my chairside manner for over thirty years, and I'm pretty confident in my ability to make patients feel comfortable and to answer any questions they might have. I know that when they greet me by my first name, and ask about my three grandchildren, then we have truly succeeded in making them feel like a part of The Waters Dental Group family.
